That graph right there? That is nuts.
In July, I decided to start a newsletter (blog? Honestly I still have no idea what the right term for āthisā is). I didnāt know where it would go, who (if anyone) would subscribe, or what exactly I would write about every week.
I just knew that I spent a lot of time reading and talking about money and jobs, so I might as well write about it. And here we are, 2031 of you later.
Itās been wild watching this thing grow. At first, it was slow. Painstakingly slow at times. I would spent seven hours writing a piece, just to gain 0 subscribers (and sometimes lose 1 or 2) afterwards. But I just kept writing, and writing, and writing.
And then it started clicking in late October.
Now? Iām just getting started. I spent the last four months writing while backpacking around Europe, but Iām back in the great US of A now. More time to write great stuff for you guys to read every week. Thereās so much craziness in both financial and labor markets that Iāll have plenty to pull from.
Get ready for more personal anecdotes, more crayon drawings, and more stories about finance, investing, and careers.
2031 subscribers right now. 25,000 this time next year.
Side note: if you want to start a newsletter and have some questions. Donāt hesitate to email/message me. Writing online isnāt easy, and Iām here to help.
Something New
Some of you may have noticed, but I have added a new feature to Young Money.
Paid subscriptions.
Hereās the deal: every piece that I have ever written, and every piece that I will ever write, will always be free on Young Money. Forever and ever.
So why add paid subscriptions? Because I want to keep my content free forever, and this will help me do that. I will never paywall my work, but if you feel that my content is something that you would pay for, please consider subscribing to one of the plans listed below.
Monthly: $10/month
Annual: $100/year
Founding member: Any amount between $100 and $200/year
How to do it:
Hit the subscribe button below (or at the top of the page), even if you are already a subscriber.
If you want to become a paid subscriber, click either Annual, Monthly, or Founding Member. If you want to become a free member, just click free. On the founding member level, you can type any amount between $100 and $200.
Again, I want to emphasize that you will never have to pay a dime to read anything on Young Money. If you feel that my work is worth paying for, I appreciate your generosity. If not, I appreciate that you take 10 minutes to read my articles each week.
Letās finish the week strong and keep an eye out for Santa this weekend.
-Jack
